Common Thread is a small, family-run business based in Victoria, BC.

My stitching days go back to grade school but started in earnest in February 2022. While the whole family was home sick, out of desperation and a bit of boredom, a miniature how-to-embroider kit was dug up from a long-forgotten Christmas stocking. I soon discovered how peaceful the stitching process is; it didn’t take long before kits were in the mail, pattern books were ordered, and the embroidery journey had begun!

My husband, Craig has experience in art and animation. He does all the background work of setting up the website, photography and turning patterns into digital works of art. He also helps with the finishing, sewing the backings and helping to set the pieces into the earring bezels or bookmarks.

Our two young daughters provide inspiration and opportunities to pass along the stitching fun. Our eldest is known to sit down with a hoop and stitch away beside mom. Our youngest prefers to provide input from the sides and ask for designs to be stitched on her clothes by her sister (with mixed results).
